Marcel Jacobs joined Office Depot in August 2007 as Manager Environmental Strategy for the European headquarters, located in Venlo, the Netherlands. His responsibilities cover the ongoing management and further development of Office Depot’s European Environmental strategy. Since April 1st 2009 his function has changed into Senior Manager Environmental Strategy, Quality & Social Compliance Europe which enables both him and Office Depot further strengthen the leading position in their industry continuing their sustainable journey. In his previous function as global Sustainability Officer Products at Philips Lighting he defined and implemented sustainable supply chain management and maintained banned substances management. By providing guidance on EcoDesign to become a best practice, he helped to ensure continuous environmental conscious product and process development that supports environmental claims, lobbying and ‘green’ marketing activities. He has studied Telecommunications, Environmental Management & Environmental Technologies, is a certified SA8000 and ISO14001 auditor.
