CSR'09 Conference Atmosphere 3

Freya Williams - When people lead, leaders follow

Andreas Beckmann - The perception of a fact has a greater impact than the fact itself

The CSR'09 conference pushed the limits of understanding CSR, going beyond a shallow focus on PR and philanthropy to consider the deeper, longer-term and more fundamental interests of companies to secure their supply chains; to protect and enhance their reputations, brands and license to operate; as well as to respond to changing government regulation.
Too many CSR events and conferences these days offer little more than a series of company presentations on how wonderful they are -- which is often frankly more fiction than reality, and has precious little impact on addressing real problems. I therefore appreciated all the more the
deeper focus and even critical reflection that many of the presenters at CSR'09 offered."

"It is clear from the attendees that there is much interest and engagement in the CSR agenda. It was good to be a part of the debates at CSR09 and help others along their journey in establishing their long term CSR strategies by sharing Standard Life's experiences and the extent to which our commitment to CSR informs the business. Although everyone is at different places in their CSR development, we can all learn from each other's experiences."(Andrew Marshall-Roberts)

Peter White - We need innovation in order to be sustainable
Peter R. White (P&G)

Marcel Jacobs - "By integration the process of sustainable development into manufacturing and development of products and services the philosophy of sustainable development will add increasingly to the process of business value creation."
